8 Oct, 2022 - 9 Oct, 2022

A two-day masterclass that will focus on decomposition and painting the found object.

Applications are now closed

The subject Crotty will focus on in this two-day workshop will be decomposition and the found object. Participants will begin with the fundamentals of drawing directly from life using a compass and ruler to measure and gauge the form. Covering aspects such as how to scale up drawings and how to transfer these measurements to the painting surface. The class will use their drawings and physical objects as references for their painting, exploring the materials and processes through practical demonstration and discussion.

Crotty’s painting practice focuses primarily on observed accounts of overlooked spaces and the broader environment around him where he lives. Crotty consistently encircles the subject of decomposition within the landscape. In his attempts to depict the impermanent, he often references dead wildlife and inanimate objects encountered in this landscape.
