Donations

The Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts is a charity that works with artists, for artists. We rely on donations and the vital funds raised through our RHA Friends programme.

We know that we need to adapt fast to our changing reality and we’re doing everything possible to sustain daily operations. During the pandemic, all donations have been directed to keeping private studios open for artists and supporting those in need, creating new online experiences for our audiences and helping to support our staff in their day-to-day capacities while working remotely.

Please help us continue to make a unique and lasting contribution to the arts by donating today.

The myriad of services we provide under one roof – from student tutelage to artist residencies to world-class exhibitions – is an achievement that we hope continues for the next 200 years.

Legacy Giving

The Academy mission is not only to support working artists, but to provide a foundation for a larger arts community within Ireland. We do this through a range of initiatives, funded by the generous gifts that have been left by our Friends and Academy Members through estate planning.

Remembering the RHA in your will can benefit the Academy in many ways, providing indispensable support for exhibitions, publications, and a range of awards and bursaries awarded directly to artists for their outstanding work and professional development. A donation ensures the future support of Irish artists and creates a direct impact within Ireland’s art community.

Legacy giving to the RHA comes in many forms, from the Hennessy Craig Award, now Ireland’s largest painting prize of €20,000, to the Elizabeth Fitzpatrick Travel Bursary, a €2,500 award given to an Irish artist to aid further study abroad. Legacy giving can offer tax benefits and is as simple as designating the RHA as a beneficiary through a bequest in your will or living trust.

If you would like to consider supporting the RHA, please contact us.

We understand that making a decision about your will is a private and personal matter, made after careful consideration. That’s why we will never ask you to declare your intentions (although we’re always delighted to hear from you, so we can say thank you).

With Your Support

  • We find and foster Irish talent in the visual arts

  • We mount the RHA Annual, Ireland’s largest open-submission art exhibition

  • We facilitate the exchange of skills between eminent artists and students

  • We continue to preserve the RHA’s collection for future generations

RHA Friends

RHA Friends was established in 1997 to support an Academy dedicated to promoting excellence in art and architecture. Today this diverse group of over 1000 greatly enhances the life of the Academy.

We invite you to become a Friend and join our collective of artists and loyal supporters who likewise believe in this home as an anchor for the love of art. Please contact our Friends Co-ordinator Michelle Considine if you would like more details: 01 661 2558 / friends@rhagallery.ie.
