RHA Talk

On 7 Feb, 2024

The RHA is the longest-running artist collective on the island of Ireland, and this series of talks intends to reference some of the initial values of the academy forming, such as community, collectivity and belonging to a group, in looking at new models of artist collectives or communities of interest.

Our series begins with Curator, Brendan Fox from Museum of Everyone.

The Museum of Everyone (MOE) is an inclusive portable platform for artists & creatives that aims to amplify a diverse range of voices & perspectives through both artist & community-led initiatives. MOE problematizes the role traditional museums play in perpetuating colonial values. It acknowledges that a ‘business as usual policy’ in historic institutions is an act of compliance that adheres to the archaic legacy of western ideals. With this in mind, MOE aims to engage with artists whose practice engages in social or political activism, marginalised groups & the public by developing an active platform for creativity, discourse, collaboration & action. Intrinsic to MOE’s ethos is centering the stories of its participants and developing projects that support community and forge change.

Through vital collaborative practices and an understanding of the need for connection, MOE will be defined by the necessities of the community and its contemporary urgencies. The Museum of Everyone is a platform for potential, collaboration, original thinking and action. Our ethos is simple, if you support your community your community in return will support you.
