Throughout the 3 days, Basti will lead the masterclass through demos and individual tutorials. On day one, students will draw from live observation from a life model. Basti will work alongside the group and the drawing will be sealed at the end of the day. On day two, Basti will demonstrate underpainting and give individual tutorials and guidance on media use and approaches. On Day Three, Basti will work with the group on how to resolve each painting.
The class is entitled Drawing, Obscuring, Painting which reflects Basti’s current working methodology, Works are initially worked up according to traditional and classical methods and subsequently obscured using painterly flourishes to reveal inner emotion contained within the image. Basti then critically discerns details and highlights. This masterclass is suited to artists seeking to learn both a classical and contemporary approach to current observational painting
Artist Bio:
Zsolt Basti is a Hungarian painter who has been living and practising in Ireland since 2005.
During this time, he has developed and honed his craft, resulting in a unique and instantly recognisable style. Basti graduated with a BA in Fine Art from the Institution of Art, Design and Technology, Dún Laoghaire. He has exhibited in such venues as the RHA Annual Exhibition, Pallas Projects and the United Arts Club. His paintings feature in the RCSI Anatomy Room, IADT, Trinty College Portrait Collection and numerous national and international private collections.

There will be a waived fee for all attendees in this masterclass under a competitive process.
