Patricia Burns

12 Apr, 2007 - 10 May, 2007

Burns’ paintings relate to the subject of ‘home’. They reflect on the areas in which she grew up; the families that lived there; the mystery of other people’s homes; the ordinariness and familiarity of the suburbs of south Dublin and also look at local authority houses built around the north ring road of Cork city. Her work deals with topics of nostalgia, transience and the instinctive human need to create a place that is home.
Suburb, 2006, oil on canvas, 90 x 105 cm.
