“I am interested in making paintings that can just incongruously appear as physical objects out of a friction-less digital environment, a kind of ridiculous inversion of augmented reality. Digital objects, icons or characters have a special relationship to meaning with fixed attributes or functions which are often inscrutable outside their context, working out what they do has become a part of everyday life. I aim to create work that suggests a removal, a break or a missing context and use that space as an ambiguous site for meaning.”
