For this workshop facilitated by artist Ellen Duffy, participants will celebrate Lunar New Year, Year of the Rabbit, by making rabbit paper puppets and Shuang Xi (Double Happiness) symbols.
For ages 5 – 12
To honour the Year of the Rabbit, this workshop will demonstrate how to make an articulated paper rabbit puppet. This fun craft project will explore the basics of mechanics, making this a great STEM activity for the New Year celebrations!
While getting creative, Ellen will explore Chinese culture as well as the Chinese Zodiac animals!
Participants will also have the option to make Shuang Xi (Double Happiness) banners. This traditional symbol makes for lucky décor during Chinese New Year Celebrations.
