Each day during the Festival of Making a contemporary artist will give a live demonstration of the processes and approaches that are used in their practice.

• Fri, 20 – Sat, 21 Oct – Helen Hughes – Live demonstration of resin sculpture and talk by Helen Hughes, 18.00 – 20.00 Friday,   20 October and 14.00 – 15.00 Saturday, 21 October

• Sun, 22 Oct – Vanessa Jones – Live painting demonstration, 11.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 -15.00

• Mon, 23 Oct – Sean Molloy – Live demo of watercolour painting, 11.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 -15.00

• Tues, 24 Oct – Katherine Sankey – Live sculpture demonstration, 11.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 -15.00

• Wed, 25 Oct – Joy Gerrard ARHA – Ink and wash live demonstration, 11.00 – 12.00 and 14.00 – 15.00

• Thurs, 26 Oct – Gabhann Dunne – Painting demonstration, 11.00 -12.00 and 14.00 – 15.00

• Fri, 27 Oct – Colin Davidson – Live drawing demonstration and talk, 14.00 – 15.00

• Sat, 28 – Sun, 29 Oct – Dorothy Smith ARHA – Drawing Each Other, Live drawing event. Open to all to participate and featuring professional artists and students from the RHA School, 11.00 – 17.00

 

Image: Colin Davidson with Ed Sheeran: Colin Davidson, known globally for his large-scale portraits, will give a short demonstration on 27 Oct on how he makes, what he calls, ‘shorthand drawings’ of a live sitter, capturing multiple images and distilling the essence of the sitter by using a series of continuous lines. An illustrated talk on his portrait paintings will follow the demonstration.
