Play Therapists 6-week Art Therapy CPD Group at the RHA

6 weeks: 5 weeks onsite in the RHA Gallery and 1 week online (11th Nov)
14 Oct, 2023 - 18 Nov, 2023

RHA and arttherapyireland are delighted to announce the 6-week CPD art therapy group designed especially for play therapists and facilitated by art therapist Andrea Clare Plunkett.

The Oct-Nov Autumn 2023 groups are the latest group event since cultural art therapy began at RHA Gallery in 2019. The CPD for play therapists will be the first cultural art therapy CPD to happen face-to-face in the gallery/studio setting. Lots of materials will be offered for you to play with and explore your creativity including paint, clay, collage, glitter, found objects and lots more! The CPD group will be blended, with 1 online session. After this group ends participants will have the exciting option to keep in touch with their creativity by attending the post-therapy once-monthly online drop-in group for only €10 per session.

6 weeks = 5 weeks onsite in the RHA Gallery and 1 week online (11th Nov)

What is CPD?

CPD, or Continual Professional Development is an ethical component of being a therapist of any kind, be it talk, art, drama, play or music. By attending art therapy as CPD you can get time to reflect on how it feels to make art and be creative in a therapeutic setting, therefore giving you insight into this part of your practice for the people you work with. We will take time to focus on ourselves, to focus on you in your practice, on your practice setting and on other helpful topics to help you fully reflect in a creative way on you as a therapist. All within a fun creative studio & gallery environment.

Please note: The CPD does not offer ‘training’ in art therapy, a formal Masters level qualification recognised by the Irish Association of Creative Art Therapy (IACAT) is needed to safely practice as an art therapist in Ireland. Andrea or IACAT.ie can offer a list of courses that are currently running on the island of Ireland should you wish to formally train in art therapy.

Booking notes:

Consent will be needed from each person attending as this is an art therapy group. Booking is non-refundable except, in the rare event that organisers cancel, natural events or government restrictions stop the group from occurring. Attendance and punctuality at all 6 sessions is necessary for group cohesion.
