Join us for a fascinating talk with Tom Gorman, the resident ecologist at Westport House, as he shares insights into an exciting restoration project currently underway on the estate. Tom will discuss the important work of regenerating ancient Irish woodland away from non-native trees, and back towards native trees that will help restore the natural balance of the woodland and support local biodiversity.
Westport Estate has established a ‘native nursery’, where they are growing native trees, wildflowers, grasses, mosses, and ferns from local sources to create unique gardens that will celebrate Irish nature, while maintaining the history and culture of the house and grounds.
This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how thoughtful ecological management can revive our landscapes and create healthier habitats for wildlife.
