Now open to the Public!
The RHA Friends are invited to take part in a day trip starting off with a tour of King House, a beautifully restored Georgian mansion in Boyle. A tour of King House is a walk through of over 400 years of Irish history. Be enthralled by stories of medieval Ireland, the fascinating King family and the history of the highly respected Connaught Rangers. Set in this magnificent, sensitively restored Georgian Mansion, the King House exhibitions really bring the past to life.
The Friends will also get to view and receive free catalogues for the Boyle Civic Art Collection, displayed in King House. This collection is regarded as one of the best collections of contemporary Irish Art outside Dublin.
After the tour the Friends will have lunch in King House picturesque Tea Rooms.
From here a coach will take the group to visit the Dock Arts Centre in Carrick-on-Shannon. Here we will meet with Ruth Carroll, who many will remember from the RHA, who is the current Director of The Dock. Ruth will lead an artist-in-conversation tour with exhibiting artist Bennie Reilly of her exhibition The Lourve of the Pebble – An exhibition of painting and mixed media sculpture informed by an interest in museology, nature and history. This will be followed by a director-led tour of Adam Gibney’s exhibition Can_you_breathe_for_me? Adam Gibney engages with a range of digital and physical media including sound, electronics, coding, and sculpture as an attempt to unravel the peculiarities of our post-anthropocentric reality.
