We are delighted to be able to take the RHA Friends on an exclusive tour of Colin Martin RHA’s exhibition, Empathy Lab, with the artist himself, at the Highlanes Gallery in Drogheda, Co. Louth, on Saturday 6th April at 2:30pm.
The title Empathy Lab comes from a dedicated area in Facebook’s EU headquarters in Dublin where employees can express empathy to various causes, through the use of technology.
In Colin Martin’s paintings he depicts objects and entities that have become obsolete or reappraised such as computer museums, analogue recording equipment and modular electronic instruments.
Colin’s work explores the blurring of boundaries between public and private, real and virtual. He reinterprets research and development of big tech such as Amazon, Facebook and Tesla to evoke the powerful synthesis of technology, culture and politics in our contemporary world.

We will meet just before 2:30pm in Highlanes Gallery for Colin Martin’s tour of his exhibition, ‘Empathy Lab’. Highlanes Gallery will kindly offer complimentary tea and coffee to the Friends.
Transport: there are regular trains to Drogheda MacBride from Dublin Connolly. The 12:52pm and 1:20pm trains will arrive in Drogheda with enough time to walk the twenty minutes from Drogheda MacBride to Highlanes Gallery.
There are suitable return trains to Dublin Connolly from Drogheda MacBride at 5:10pm or 5:30pm. As with all public transport, please check the Irish Rail website for up to date timetable information.
