Lens/Post Lens with Caroline Doolan

- 27 Feb, 2019

The verisimilitude of photography and film has been augmented by a suite of post-production softwares where reality could be altered, changed, recreated or entirely re-imagined. The premise that the lens is analogous to what it refracts has become significantly complicated, the lens or the screen now mediates or creates realities in the post internet age.

Discourse in cinematic production, despite the ability of digital animation to create and render imagined worlds that are hyper-realistic, has seen a turn to the authenticity of ‘in camera’ techniques as a more persuasive suspension of audience belief. Contemporary artists are free to cross these boundaries, specialise and appropriate in their practice an array of lens-based approaches.

This series of public talks looks at a range of lens and media strategies employed in current visual arts practice.
