Dear Friends & Colleagues,
It is with great sadness that I write to tell you of the death of Patrick Pye RHA on Thursday 8th February.
We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Noirin, daughters Naoise and Róisín and extended family. In his 89 years Patrick lived a full and productive life as a painter, printmaker, writer, as a deeply spiritual thinker and as a loving family man.
He was one of our most venerable Members. I last saw him this summer, wheelchair bound and with diminished eyesight still absorbed in looking at a Vermeer painting at the National Gallery show. A new audience got to acquaint themselves with his work at a recent group show at IMMA. He spoke honestly about art and was a valued voice at our assemblies. We mourn him and we will miss him.
A gathering for close friends will take place on Sunday, 11th February from 2pm to 5pm in the Pye family home - Piperstown, Tallaght, Dublin 24. The removal will take place on Monday, 12th February at 5pm in St. Mary’s Priory, Tallaght. The funeral will take place on Tuesday, 13th February at 11am in St. Mary’s Priory, Tallaght and Patrick Pye will be laid to rest in St. Maelruain’s Parish, Tallaght. Please see addresses below:
