Avolon and the RHA are delighted to announce that the second artist to join the Avolon Global Studio Programme is Iranian artist, Jinoos Taghizadeh, who will complete a 6 month residency from September 2017 - March 2017 at the RHA School, Dublin.
"These days I walk a lot; I walk and look, hear and smell. But I don't touch anything. I try to be invisible; without any effect on my surroundings. Invisibility is the best way to discover things, places, and people; to discover the spirit of a city with all of the things that made it. ..."
Following a call out to the Middle East for the second year of this residency, the selection committee involving RHA Director, Patrick T. Murphy, RHA School Principal, Colin Martin, Avolon Head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, Lynn Guiney felt that Jinoos Taghizadeh's application made her the perfect candidate to benefit from the Avolon Global Studio Award.
Following her first few weeks, Jinoos said:
"I walk from home to the studio; a white studio like a first page of a notebook in the first day of school; the most frightening thing in the world; something without memory. I am invisible in the studio too, between the white walls and I walk between the pages of the white notebook, like a bug, or like fingers of a blind kid on the Braille world... I have to touch the pages, the walls, the city."
