Iconic Irish paint brand CURATOR announced as first ever sponsor of RHA Ashford Gallery

We are delighted to announce Irish paint brand CURATOR as the sponsor of the Ashford Gallery at the Royal Hibernian Academy of Arts.

This sponsorship sees the coming together of the inherently Irish institution, the RHA and paint brand CURATOR, a sister brand to Colourtrend Paints, over the coming months and will include support for artists exhibiting in the gallery to display their work against the backdrop of the perfect shade of Irish paint.

The sponsorship will see CURATOR Paints come to life in the gallery as the backdrop for work by exhibiting artists, including:

  • Katherine Sankey,  14 October – 12 November
  • Casey Walshe, 15 November – 18 December
  • Dominique Crowley, 10 January – 11 February

CURATOR Paints
CURATOR is an iconic palette of 144 shades.  It launched in 2020 and has been developed by General Paints Group, the Celbridge based brand behind Colourtrend. The range was developed in collaboration with leading Irish artisans, from potters to stonemasons and craftspeople from all four corners of Ireland.

RHA Ashford Gallery
The Ashford Gallery is a commercial space within the RHA, creating opportunities for artists to meet collectors and new audiences, alike. Artists exhibiting in the Ashford Gallery receive full curatorial, marketing and administrative support from staff of the RHA, and now, support from CURATOR in displaying their work against the perfect shade of luxury Irish paint.

Commenting on the announcement today, President of the RHA Dr. Abigail O’Brien said:

“This is a very exciting development for the RHA Ashford Gallery which will help our exhibiting artists to display their work, using Irish paint colours, to strengthen the impact of their shows. At the RHA, quality and excellence is at the very core of what we do – and a partnership with CURATOR is a perfect reflection of the inherent values of the Academy.

This collaboration also comes at a time when the RHA is marking 200 years since its founding while the GPG, the parent company of CURATOR is celebrating 70 years since it was founded.”

Also speaking on the announcement was Rachel O’Connor, Managing Director of General Paints Group, the parent company of CURATOR, who said:

“As a brand, CURATOR's vocation is to celebrate the vibrancy and colour of Irish design through its collection – and the sponsorship of the RHA’s Ashford Gallery represents the perfect opportunity to manifest its mission right in the heart of Dublin. In developing the palette of colours, we worked with leading artisans across Ireland– and so the link to supporting exhibiting and emerging artists now in The Ashford Gallery feels like a natural fit for us."
