New Associate Member, Peter McGovern ARHA

Peter McGovern is an award winning architect, born in Dublin in 1970. He graduated from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1996 with First Class Honours and was awarded the DIT Gold Medal for Academic Excellence. He was also a recipient of the Thomas Dammann Junior Memorial Trust scholarship.

Peter is a director at Henry J Lyons, where he has practiced since graduation, completing a number of important projects across a wide range of building types and scales. Peter’s work is epitomised by the pursuit of an architecture which responds creatively to contemporary social, economic and environmental factors. Central to his ethos is the belief that each project should result in a singular expression appropriate to its time and its setting, and is ultimately a manifestation of the people, institutions and the community which it serves.

Among his works of note are the Criminal Courts of Justice on Parkgate Street (2010), the New Central Bank of Ireland building on North Wall Quay (2017) and No.26 York Street for the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (2017).
Peter was elected ARHA in February 2019.
