The RHA is delighted to announce the recipient of the RHA Graduate Studio Award 2019 as Ellen Duffy, TU Dublin. This award is funded by the generosity of RHA Friends and offers the recipient a one-year fully funded studio in the RHA and a cash prize of €2,500, courtesy of Whyte’s. A selection panel consisting of Colin Martin, RHA School Principal; Patrick T. Murphy, RHA Director and Ruth Carroll, RHA Curator viewed all work exhibited in the RDS Visual Arts Award 2019. Duffy commenced her residency in the RHA Studio Programme in December 2019.
Ellen Duffy is an artist based in Dublin. She graduated this year from TU Dublin School of Creative Arts with a first-class honour’s degree in Fine Art. Her practice is concerned with an interest in how objects/materials give power to one another by way of the role they play in the assemblage. Her haptic way of making is driven by curiosity, doubt and a determination to figure out limitations and how to push beyond them.
