Andrew Folan RHA : Photoshop Methods for Artists

Masterclass

In Person - RHA School
25 Feb, 2023 - 26 Feb, 2023

This masterclass will present a direct pathway through PhotoShop, outlining its most versatile image manipulation methods
and introducing the possibility of transferring printed images onto canvas, paper and board.

Applications are now closed.

Photoshop is the first choice digital method for artists. Key to its success is the transformation of analogue photographic and reprographic methods into digital (rasterised) images.

This makes the digital more intuitive for a community familiar with tangible imaging – in their use of drawing, painting, film, light-projection and photomechanical printing.

Forty-four years after its inception, PhotoShop still uses the same analogue derived architecture, making it ideal for artists wishing to work with digital imaging and for those who choose to incorporate digitally manipulated images with painting, printmaking and drawing.

This class will present a direct pathway through PhotoShop, outlining its most versatile image manipulation methods and introducing the possibility for transferring printed images onto canvas, paper and board.

Andrew Folan RHA is a printmaker and sculptor. He uses a range of digital and analogue methods in his practice. He is the former Head of Fine Art Print at NCAD.
