Vanessa Lopéz recreates a fantastical stting room in the white space of the RHA’s Ashford Gallery in July. The sitting room is populated by Lopéz’s distinctive paintings, drawings and eclectic sculptures. Many of these sculptures are recreated using found objects and include boxes, dolls made out of wax and paper sculptures attached to clock mechanisms that are frozen in time.
The artist writes: ‘Working on several projects at the same time with different media, the ideas, strategies and images mix and multiply creating collections of objects. These collections are mixed objects, some of them made by myself and some others are found. In this way my compositions and installations develop almost of their own accord and they often works as metaphorical investigations.’
