The artist adds:“
My painting often presents the viewer with a story or a scenario; the viewer is invited to resolve their own ending or meaning from the works. Photographs, newspapers, stories, television and popular culture all forge ideas for my paintings. They are painted in thick pastel colours often counteracting the darkness of the scenes or ideas within the pieces. The human condition and the figures are often core to the paintings. Animals feature frequently in my work, they are used to symbolise various personalities or to reinforce a story. The figures often appear fragmented and the paintings can verge on abstraction, I paint directly onto canvas allowing for change and for different ideas to merge.”
