Kilkenny Friends Trip Itinerary
9.10am – Train departs – Dublin Heuston (Friends book their own tickets here)
10.45am – Train Arrives Kilkenny
10.55am – Coach leaves for Callan
11.15pm – Arrive Callan – Donald Teskey RHA Studio visit in Tony and Jane O’Malley Residency, Callan
12.05pm – 2 min walk to KCAT Arts Centre
12.10pm – KCAT Arts Centre – View festival exhibitions with a short guided tour
12.35pm – 2 min walk to Fennelly’s Café
12.40pm – Lunch Fennelly’s Café – for Lunch and Sweet/Teas/Coffees
1.30pm – Coach back to Kilkenny
1.50pm – Kilkenny Castle – Timisien (explore outdoor installation in Kilkenny Castle parklands – entrance fee covered)
2.25pm sharp – Meet in front of Kilkenny Castle and 2 min walk to National Design & Craft Gallery
2.30pm – National Design & Craft Gallery – Curator tour of exhibition – An exhibition of skilled craftsmanship by the 28 members of the MADE in Kilkenny collective
3 – 3.50pm – Free time for Friends to explore // Option to go to Design Centre Food Hall for snacks/tea/coffee where there will be a table reserved (please note this is self-service and not included in the fee)
3.50pm – Meet at entrance to Design Centre Food Hall. Short walk to Butler House Garden‘s Stone Circle for Secret Music Series
4 – 4.15pm – Secret Music Series bringing a stellar (but unannounced) line-up of musicians to perform a series of short pop-up concerts.
When performance finishes we will walk to Butler Gallery together
4.35pm – Butler Gallery – Tour with Director Anna O’Sullivan
5.15 – 6.25pm – Free time for Friends to wander around Kilkenny or perhaps grab food or drinks in River Court Hotel on the water just 4 mins walk from the Butler Gallery and 10 min walk to the train station (please note this is self-service and not included in the fee)
6.25pm – Walk together to the train station if at River Court Hotel (12 min walk) , or meet rest of Friends at train station before departure.
6.45pm – Train Departs Kilkenny Train station to Dublin Heuston
8.21pm – Train Arrives to Dublin Heuston
Fee €70* per person – covers day’s events, coach transfer to and from Callan, two course lunch, teas/coffees in Fennelly’s cafe, tours, Timisien entrance fee. It does not cover train or other snacks/meals during day.
*please pay a fee of €76 if you wish to have a glass of wine at lunch.
Fee must be paid by this Friday, 4th August to secure your place. You must have previously booked your place online before paying this fee. Fee non-refundable past 12pm, 7th August.
