Festival of Making

Free Admission
20 Oct, 2023 - 29 Oct, 2023

The Festival Of Making is a ten day event, held in the RHA Galleries, that will celebrate the processes of making art and the role the Academy has played in peer learning, during our 200 year history.

Over the course of the Festival of Making, we invite you to observe live portrait painting by academy artists Una Sealy RHA, James Hanley RHA and Blaise Smith RHA. Join us for daily demonstrations by leading contemporary artists, giving insight into how their work is made and the materials they use alongside two masterclasses by artists, Sian Costello and Zsolt Basti. All activities will be open to the public to observe, during select times.

This series will continue in 2024 with further talks from both associate members and invited artists, who work in collectives, to look at the ongoing role of the group dynamic in supporting and sustaining artists’ practice.
